Who we are
Gauteng Age in Action (GAIA) is a provincial developmental organisation dedicated to protecting the rights and dignity of older persons. With over 65 years of service, we have become a trusted partner in elder care, offering advocacy, community-based support, and innovative programmes.
Our reach extends across all five regions of Gauteng, where we are supported by 72 dedicated staff members and volunteers. Backed by the Department of Social Development (DSD) and strong community partnerships, we are able to serve and make a meaningful impact throughout the province.

Our Impact
How we make a difference!
Each year, we support over 2,000 elders through our dedicated programmes and initiatives. With 55 adopters reaching out to isolated elders on a weekly basis, we ensure that no one is left behind.
Our Careline service responds to hundreds of abuse cases annually, providing critical intervention and support. In addition, dozens of luncheon clubs bring elders together, promoting health, wellbeing, and a strong sense of community.
